One Year Ago

Here is a fun bit of trivia. One year ago today I started writing my blog everyday (unless I happened to lose some pieces from earlier days). I know I have more than 365 pieces however and that is because I had written some last summer and fall, but it was not an everyday serious thing. Also, I know that I wrote twice on some days that I got really excited about something (the final four in the Aud). I made it my goal to write 200 words per day, and I pretty much always go over. However, assuming that I did write exactly 200 words every day for the last year, I have written 73,000 words in the last year. That is quite a few words although if I made into a book, it wouldn't quite be an epic novel. Writing is a good habit to get into for anyone, but it is even more important when you are a business and statistics major that doesn't need to write that much otherwise. I didn't want to lose my edge, so I thought and was right that it definitely does help you to constantly write and work at the craft.

Why I Write about Power Soccer

Apparently, the power soccer scene has been relatively quiet across America over the past month. I know that stuff has been happening such as a round-robin tournament in Pittsburgh at the end of December, but I have not been able to find any other games going on. Of course, a large part of this is probably due to the holidays, but nevertheless, I wish that there was more media coverage concerning power soccer. We have an international competition coming up in 2011 where I would daresay that we are the favorites given the players on the team and the fact that the Americans won in the last World Cup. However, very few people know about the sport, so media exposure could definitely help. I know that Team USA is trying to do this, but it is very difficult to break into an already crowded sports scene especially when it is a minority sport. However, teams are making local efforts. I know that I have seen several articles in various newspapers around the country. Unfortunately, most of them are relatively smalltime papers, but at least we are getting the sport out there. That is why I write about power soccer so much. Really, there's not too much content on the Internet about the sport outside of those within it. Therefore, I am hoping to reach a different audience who might stumble across it as opposed to directly search for it.

'Twas the Night before Final Exams

Here is what I am thinking about doing. How about rewriting 'Twas the Night before Christmas into 'Twas the Night before Final Exams"?

'Twas the night before my final exams and all through the room
I had no idea what was going on since not focusing would be my doom.
My accounting notes were set upon the table in a pile
And I leafed through it for a lot more than a while.

I turned on my computer and opened Microsoft Word
To reread the notes I had previously heard.
At one point I knew the material but now I feel
I need to study it again, and pay attention for real.

The material started sinking in, I began to remember it
Everything began to come together and like a puzzle fit
Every time I read I remembered a little more in stages.
So I figured I would finish up with one last look over the pages.

The one last read through always helped me secure
The important information and eliminate the impure.
It is good to reach closure when studying accounting material
Because there is always more to learn, especially in managerial.

Then finishing up the material, I had an epiphany
I had forgotten to write my blog so I did so swiftly
So I hope you enjoyed my abridged Christmas poem
And remember in one day we can all stay home.

Happy 200th Birthday! Who Lives That Long?

Today is a day for celebration kind of like every day at Disney World. Why the celebration? Well, there really are two reasons. Firstly, the Phillies had another walkoff victory last night make it three in a row which they had never done before in team history. This one was even more impressive as the game featured dual nine inning shutouts that both Travis Wood and Roy Halladay deserved to win but both got no decisions. So, that is one reason to celebrate. The other reason is on a more personal note. Release the balloons and streamers and confetti and whatever else you need to throw an appropriate birthday party. Whose birthday is it? It's not mine, but it is the 200th birthday of the Perpetual Blogging Co.! With this post, I have written 200 times with at least 200 words every time. That means, if you have been with me from the beginning, you have read at least 40,000 words from me. I'm surprised you're still here. Just kidding, but I do appreciate all my readers who have been here so long. Hopefully, we will make it a few more hundred before I finally run out of ideas.

My Interview on Blogging

I don't really need to write today because I have something else I want you to read. I was searching the Internet a few weeks ago and I discovered the blog "I'm Not A Famous Blogger." As the name implies, they were looking to conduct interviews with bloggers who are not famous. So, I did an interview with them, and I would love to have you go to their website to read that interview. So, until tomorrow, here's a link, and I'll write again tomorrow!
