Intern for Hire

I said that I would write often, and I have time tonight, so here you go. Right now, I am looking for my summer internship. Do you want to know what my ideal summer internship would be? Well, I have a few. One would obviously be to be a full-time paid power soccer player. Seriously though, I would love to put in some work time to promote the sport. There are other people who travel around the country starting new teams, and I think that would be so much fun. There's nothing quite like seeing the excitement that new players have the first time they touch the ball. Another cool internship would be working for the Phillies. I watch them anyway, so why not do it in person and get paid to do it? Actually, I would also like to work in their accounting office because there's so much money to handle! Accountants get used to being the indispensable people behind the scenes, and I would like to help with that with the Phillies. How cool would that be? Do any of my readers have an awesome internship for me? If you want me to work for you, let me know!

Right Field Debate

I saw the Phillies play again last night. Even though the final score wasn't good, it was so great to see them play again. One of the things about being one of the best teams in the MLB is that TV stations love to put them on. Also, featuring the best rotation in baseball doesn't hurt either for the heightened media perception. I think we definitely have potential, and the only battle that seems really up for grabs is the right field vacancy left by Jayson Werth. It looks like it will be filled by Ben Francisco, Dominic Brown, or John Mayberry Junior. My personal opinion is that Ben Francisco should get that job. The reason I believe that is because he has put up pretty consistent numbers off the bench, and it is much harder to come off the bench and produce well then to be in there every day. However, my opinion doesn't count much, so I would bet you that Dominic Brown gets the job. He is extraordinarily athletic and has a ton of potential. I think that he could bypass the other two someday on pure athletic talent, but for now I would say go with Ben Francisco.

Spring Training is Almost Here

Well, the Super Bowl is over, so the next big events are the beginning of spring training and slightly after that and slightly more important than that is March Madness. Not that spring training is not important, but I feel like the games are not on TV enough, especially of the Phillies, so it is difficult to watch that much. Regrettably, I don't exactly know how long it is until pitchers and catchers report, but I know that is within the month, so that is very exciting. As I have said before, I feel like the Phillies are the team to beat not only in the National League but also in all of baseball. I really don't know who will challenge well this year, but I have to assume that Atlanta will be solid because they have been solid every year since the early 90s. You never know with the Mets or Marlins, and we can safely assume that Washington will not be too great although they do now have Jayson Werth, and I know that he is an excellent hitter who will solidify their lineup. It will be a fun year, and I look forward to having a better prediction of the World Series than I did for the Super Bowl.

Spring is Coming

I think that all of this snow is ridiculous. Apparently, we are supposed to get a lot more snow over the weekend and next week. That is also ridiculous. Anyway, you can listen to the news if you want to hear that stuff, so that is not why you're here. You're here to listen to me talk about something that I'm avoiding talking about right now because I am still thinking about what I should write. I think I'm going to write about how I was very excited to see my homework level slowly dropping. Along with this snow, I think that the homework is also ridiculous. There are a lot of ridiculous things in the world apparently, and another one will be if the Phillies do not win the World Series this year. Of course, we can't talk like that because we know they're going to win the World Series anyway, so it is pointless to speculate otherwise. I think that this team has the best pitching they have ever had, so even though the Bank is a hitter's ballpark, that does not discount the fact that these pitchers will do better than anyone else even if they do give up more runs than they would if they played in a giant ballpark because the opposing pitchers have to come to Philadelphia as well. It will be a fun year I have no doubt!

Looking Forward

Well, apparently Brett Favre is retiring for real this time. Of course, we have heard this before, but he isn't getting any younger so it probably will be true this time. Nevertheless, the playoffs are coming, so that will be a lot of fun, and it will of course be capped off by the Super Bowl featuring the two best teams in the NFL and the Black Eyed Peas at halftime. Then, after that we have March Madness and baseball season, two of my favorite times of the year. Interspersed with this will be a few more dunks by Blake Griffin I'm sure simply because he does something highlight reel worthy almost every night. That guy is ridiculous! Baseball season will be fun because there's no reason that the Phillies should not dominate this year. They now have the best rotation in baseball to go with the offense that is still one of the best even though it is not quite as strong as it was in right field. Maybe Dominic Brown will surprise us all! How nice would that be? Either way, we have a lot to look forward to in the next few months, so enjoy your fantasy that your team might win the World Series this year because once the season starts, we all know who's going all the way.

Four of a Kind

Well, I meant to write this when it was relatively breaking news, but since it has been out almost all day, I guess I kind of missed it. Something about final exams is messing with my blog writing. Anyway, how about Cliff Lee being a Phillie again? We now have the undisputed best rotation in baseball. With Roy squared, the Cole Train, and now General Lee, who can compete with that? Not only that, but two of them are left-handers and two of them are right-handers. With this type of rotation, the opponent will see a different side of the plate every night except for when whoever the number five starter turns up being because he will have a left-hander before or after him and a right-hander on the other side. When you couple this with one of the most prolific offenses in baseball, we have a wrecking machine being assembled. Although we lost Jayson Werth to Washington, I think our offense still has plenty of pop to support this pitching staff which I quite honestly think will not need much run support. The off-season still is not over, so let's see what other teams have in store to improve and try to fight with the Phillies!
