Intern for Hire

I said that I would write often, and I have time tonight, so here you go. Right now, I am looking for my summer internship. Do you want to know what my ideal summer internship would be? Well, I have a few. One would obviously be to be a full-time paid power soccer player. Seriously though, I would love to put in some work time to promote the sport. There are other people who travel around the country starting new teams, and I think that would be so much fun. There's nothing quite like seeing the excitement that new players have the first time they touch the ball. Another cool internship would be working for the Phillies. I watch them anyway, so why not do it in person and get paid to do it? Actually, I would also like to work in their accounting office because there's so much money to handle! Accountants get used to being the indispensable people behind the scenes, and I would like to help with that with the Phillies. How cool would that be? Do any of my readers have an awesome internship for me? If you want me to work for you, let me know!

End of a Constant

All right, any of you that are my friends on Facebook will know that I just launched a new website called spinkickers.com. Basically, it provides user reviews of various power soccer equipment, personal stories, and a collection of links to help you find out about power soccer around the world. Therefore, now that I'm working on this, I will still be writing my blog, but it will not be every day. I don't want to commit to a time schedule, but I will say that I still want to write often. I just know that I will have some things working well on this website, but it will also take some of my time which I would normally spend writing. So, I hope you guys like the website!

In other news, practice went extremely well tonight. I thought we played very well although I am frustrated that I drove into some two-on-ones that I most definitely shouldn't have. Whatever, I think I played all right, and I know that my teammates played well! We are beginning to gel very well, so I was very happy about that, and I know that we will keep getting better. Also, I hope nothing but the best for everybody in Arizona at the Powerblast!

Taking the Challenge

Normally, I would write this post tomorrow, but I may have better things to write about, so I'm going to write up my goals quickly for soccer practice tomorrow.

·         First, I want to work hard to play better one-on-one. I have been watching video, and I think that the key to playing well one-on-one is that you need to be willing to bump a little bit. Therefore, don't worry, I'm not going to go crazy tomorrow, but I intend to be pretty aggressive.

·         Next, I want to get better at passing. My passes are not bad in theory, but I don't get enough power on them, so they don't necessarily get all the way to where I want them to. I need a better plan for that.

·         Obviously, I want to play smart. I think that most of the time I have my head in the game, but as we all know there are those moments where I should make better decisions. You can't always beat your opponent, but you can always beat yourself, and I really don't want to do that.

I hope to pull all of this off tomorrow, so I want my teammates to keep me accountable.

Almost Break

Why is it going to be so cold today? Can the weather just start warming up? Probably not. Well, I think that today will be a pretty good day. Not really. I have a midterm today and another one tomorrow, so I will be studying, taking a test, and then studying some more. Sounds like a fun life to me. Again, not really. However, there is the ever present hope of spring break in approximately one day in six hours. Although I don't have a ton planned over vacation, the point is that it will be a break from school. Unfortunately, it is only one week, but one week is better than nothing by far. I like the fact that I will not have a lot of homework except for edited a few papers and doing some statistics homework. On average though, I'll have less homework per day which is always good. What am I going to do with all of my free time? Probably enough so that it won't be free time anymore. I always tend to do that. I have free time, but then I fill it up just as quickly. So, wish me luck on my test today! Luckily it is all multiple choice.

Right Field Debate

I saw the Phillies play again last night. Even though the final score wasn't good, it was so great to see them play again. One of the things about being one of the best teams in the MLB is that TV stations love to put them on. Also, featuring the best rotation in baseball doesn't hurt either for the heightened media perception. I think we definitely have potential, and the only battle that seems really up for grabs is the right field vacancy left by Jayson Werth. It looks like it will be filled by Ben Francisco, Dominic Brown, or John Mayberry Junior. My personal opinion is that Ben Francisco should get that job. The reason I believe that is because he has put up pretty consistent numbers off the bench, and it is much harder to come off the bench and produce well then to be in there every day. However, my opinion doesn't count much, so I would bet you that Dominic Brown gets the job. He is extraordinarily athletic and has a ton of potential. I think that he could bypass the other two someday on pure athletic talent, but for now I would say go with Ben Francisco.

Excitement Coming

It is very exciting to think about the future of our power soccer team. While we don't know entirely with that future will look like, I know it will be exciting. The reason it will be so exciting is because we have a lot of great people. That isn't just me; I know that that sentiment is felt by many of my teammates, and that is obviously a great thing. We are willing to work together and seem to do so relatively effectively. It is good when people are able to get things done while still keeping everybody else informed about what is happening so there is no wasted time in doing the same thing. We seem to do that very well also with a relatively accessible line of communication that we are relatively diligent with. It is going to happen, and it is an exciting sport.

I want to let you know that there might be some changes coming up in my blog. I am not sure when they will happen or exactly how, but I may not be writing as often. I will give you more details in a few days when I know more myself. I have a new idea that is pretty exciting though!
